23andMe is a company that takes your DNA sample then provides information about you genetically: like if you have the baldness gene, if your predisposed to certain genetic conditions like Alzheimers or which part of Europe your ancestors are from.

I’d heard about 23andme.com via the Radiolab podcast and decided to give it a go. At £125, it’s quite expensive but I figured I’d take the hit if it meant I could kick back and not worry about getting some awful debilitating disease in the future.

The kit came after a few days and I had to provide a saliva sample into a test tube.

Hmmmm, nice.

Once the saliva sample is given and mixed with the preservant in the lid, you send it off to the Netherlands and await the results.
